Simon Cohen was the founder of Rowe Cohen in 1990 being the Managing Partner between 1998 and 2004, then Senior Partner and is now joint Managing Partner with David Horwich. Simon's specialist areas are Human Rights, Personal Injury, Insurance Law and Legal Expense Insurance. He is widely recognised as a leading authority in insurance law. David Horwich

David joined the practice in 1993 as a Partner and is now joint Managing Partner with Simon Cohen. He qualified as a Solicitor in 1987. He was jointly responsible for opening the Manchester city office. David has an in-depth experience in Personal Injury and was responsible initially for setting up the Defendant department which acts for Insurers, and now heads up the combined Personal Injury Department, which comprises of both Claimant and Defendant work. He has been involved in many cases involving catastrophic injuries and awards in excess of £1M.

David has developed a bespoke case management system for Claimant Personal Injury cases. He is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.

Brian Coghlan


Brian Coghlan

Brian joined the practice as a Trainee in 1994 and qualified into the Personal Injury Department in 1995. In 1998 he spent nearly 2 years managing the London office, and was made a Partner of the firm in 2000. Brian has specialised in Personal Injury since qualification, and is responsible for supervising and training lawyers across the Department, as well as dealing with his own caseload. He also works closely with other Partners in managing the Personal Injury department of the practice. Mark Woodall


Mark Woodall

Mark joined the practice as a Trainee in October 1992, after graduating first from Lancaster University and then Chester College of Law. He qualified in October 1994 and was made Partner in May 2003. Mark specialises in Personal Injury Litigation on behalf of insurance and lay clients.

Mark has gained widespread experience in the Personal Injury field. This includes acting for clients regarding complex cases in specialist fields such as fibromyalgia and strokes arising from road traffic accidents. Rob Myer


Rob Myer

Rob originally joined the firm as a Trainee in 1995. After qualifying as a Solicitor in 1997 Rob has specialised in Personal Injury. He became a Partner within the Practice in 2004. Rob has built up an extensive knowledge of all Personal Injury areas during his career to date. He has been actively involved in drafting the firms current Conditional Fee Agreements ensuring that he full knowledge of this area of law. At the height of the issues relating to Credit Hire, Rob was heavily involved, providing advice to certain Hire Companies as to their Terms and Conditions. His main speciality is Personal Injury work, both Fast Track and Multi Track. In addition to his own caseload, Rob also provides an advisory role to his team of fee earners.

Philippa Sampson


Philippa Simpson

•  2:1 Degree at Sheffield University and Commendation at Chester Law School
•  Qualified as a Solicitor in 1997
•  Associate September 2005
•  Partner May 2008

Philippa trained at Davis Blank Furniss, Manchester before transferring to the practice after qualification. She specialised in Personal Injury work on joining the firm. Philippa became a Partner in 2008.

Mike specialises in catastrophic injury claims on behalf of Claimants. He works on behalf of those who have suffered major head and spinal injuries and whose claims are worth upwards of £1,000,000.
