£10m settlement for a teenager following collision

12th Dec 2022

Patrick Maguire and Amber Braybrooke of HCC Solicitors have secured a £10m settlement for a client who sustained catastrophic injuries following a high-speed road traffic collision.

Our client, who was 18 at the time of injury, was in a car being driven recklessly by an older friend, resulting in a crash in which the vehicle rolled multiple times.

Our team issued a claim at an early stage to secure interim payments for the clients after the Defendants refused to fund treatment, care or accommodation under the rehabilitation code.

Once interim payments had been paid, and suitable temporary accommodation and care had been arranged by Patrick and Amber, the claim proceeded with a full spectrum of experts on each side with a £10m settlement being reached on behalf of our client.

Patrick Maguire, partner and head of the London office at HCC Solicitors, said:

“This settlement enables our client and the family to move forward with their lives in the knowledge that the support they require is there. When people sustain a spinal cord injury it is essential they receive the right level of support and rehabilitation at the earliest possible opportunity. In this case, we were able to secure rapid funding to progress rehabilitation and provide new accommodation. Our client and his family have been an inspiration to our team and we are pleased to have been trusted to deliver the right outcome.”
