Major Trauma & Serious Injury

The term "Major Trauma" covers a wide range of conditions affecting both children and adults, and these patients often suffer from multiple injuries. No two cases are identical and every client has their own particular needs and priorities, but in every case HCC will focus on maximising rehabilitation delivery to help Major Trauma clients recover, and then make sure that damages are maximised to help provide for the future. If you would like to speak to an expert in confidence and without any obligation, please call 0161 830 4600 and ask to speak to one of our specialist Major Trauma Solicitors, or complete the "Get in Touch" form via this website.

The treatment of Major Trauma injuries is now restricted to 22 NHS hospitals that have been designated as specialist Major Trauma Centres, and seriously injured patients are taken to them directly by paramedics for treatment. The Major Trauma and Serious Injury Team at Horwich Cohen Coghlan Solicitors was established specifically to support and advise these patients, and our team of experienced specialist lawyers provide them with expert legal support and advice during their recovery.

We visit Major Trauma clients at hospital and in their own homes when appropriate so that we have a clear understanding of their injuries and their individual situation, and our services are built around their specific needs as the recovery progresses. We prioritise effective delivery of rehabilitation treatment from an early stage, and will do everything we can to ensure that the course of treatment set out in their Rehabilitation Prescription is delivered comprehensively following discharge from hospital.

We work with private treatment providers who can deliver treatments to supplement and complement existing and effective NHS services, and we ensure these costs are funded wherever possible by a third party compensator. We will engage with insurance companies from an early stage to make sure that the focus is maintained on rehabilitation and treatment, for as long as it takes for the best possible recovery to be achieved.

Whilst this work is ongoing, we will also take steps to build up the complex and comprehensive body of evidence that will be required to make sure that the resulting financial settlement is maximised in due course.
