Martin qualified as a Solicitor in 2003 and joined HCC Solicitors in 2019. He is a Partner and Director.
As an expert in serious injury and fatal incident litigation, Martin takes a holistic approach to helping people and families rebuild their lives. He pioneered the firm’s ‘family first’ approach, recognising early how a serious injury impacts the entire family unit. This ethos is now adopted across the firm, ensuring clients and their wider families have access to excellent rehabilitation packages to support them during what is likely to be the worst time of their lives. This dedicated approach adopted throughout his career has allowed him to achieve numerous life-changing results for clients.
Never afraid to push boundaries in pursuit of people’s rights, Martin changed the law for the benefit of injured people seeking interim payments at the Court of Appeal in the case of Berry v Ashead. Another landmark verdict was achieved at the High Court in the case of Lewington v Motor Insurance Bureau, where the Judge ruled that the MIB must comply with the applicable EC directive and compensate Ms. Lewington for serious injuries caused by an off-road vehicle.
Martin is a supporter of numerous charities, including Brake (the road safety charity), the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA), and Northwest Air Ambulance. He understands the importance of listening to people’s feedback on legal systems and frequently works alongside charities, individuals, and families to campaign for a more compassionate and fairer response from the justice system.
Recognised by the Legal 500 as an excellent practitioner, Martin is also an accredited serious injury solicitor by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL). He lectures regularly to educate others on the subject of personal injury litigation and actively campaigns for the rights of injured and bereaved people.
